When I say “my roots,” I’m referring to travel. Those are the only roots I cling to lately, as I sit here not traveling. But one doesn’t have to travel to remember their first love.
I recently lost the travel top writer badge I’d held onto since the beginning of my Medium journey, so I thought it best to get back on the wagon and revisit it. The task of getting it back rekindled my joy of writing about travel, and led to being curated a couple times, too.
Curation is also something I’ve lost lately. It wasn’t due to this “curation jail” thing everyone keeps moaning about, it was due to lack of inspiration. So I referred back to what I know best, and I got my mojo back. Here are my two latest travel curations.
Some People Have Money, Others are Simply Rich - A comparison between average and affluence.
I Think I’m Too Nice for AirBnB - As I write this from inside a Hilton suite.
With a new year is approaching, are you the type of person who makes resolutions? Or how about broad declarations on Facebook about how shitty the past year has been, and you’re going to turn over a new leaf on everything?
A calendar page doesn’t make any difference at all if we want to make change. I wrote about that here:
Why do we Need January 1st?
Speaking of firsts, I’ve created a brand new publication to keep track of noteworthy “firsts.” I have done this in the past and it’s pretty cool how a small something can lead to even bigger somethings along the way. We just need to keep track of them to notice.
The publication is called The Journal of Firsts, and I would be interested in allowing a few other writers to join me in documenting their notable firsts, if any of you are interested. While I don’t want it to turn into a giant pub with hundreds of writers, I would love to work with a couple of you, in mindful documentation of your own steps to success.
If this publication is of interest to you, shoot me a reply and we can talk. I could add a dedicated tab for your own journal entries, as part of the pub.
Speaking of notable firsts, I met a fellow Medium writer in real life, for the first time! Check out the following story to find out who it was and what we talked about over coffee.
Meeting a Medium Writer for the First Time - The beautiful humans of our writing community.
That wraps up this newsletter. We’re getting eerily close to Christmas holidays and I’m sure everyone is busy with family, friends, and tradition. I’ll try to touch base one more time before 2020.
In the meantime, thank you for subscribing! Happy December!
