I’ve submitted to the highly coveted Human Parts publication on Medium quite a few times. Each time, I’ve been rejected in less than one week. Now I feel “meh” about it. It feels more like a game than anything.
All my submissions have been centered around the most human topics I can conjure up in this life of mine, so I officially have NO CLUE what they may be looking for.
I’ve read a bunch of other successful stories in the pub just to see if I’m way off base in my storytelling but I still can’t get a grasp of what they want. So I’ll just keep playing the game for fun.
On that note, I’m too lazy to actually start a publication called Human Parts Rejects, and I have no idea if that would be grounds for Medium punishment. So I thought it would be more fun to hear back from you all about your rejected pieces.
Have you submitted to Human Parts lately? Or ever?
If so, I would LOVE to see some of your HP reject stories. Reply to this email with a link to ONE of your attempted HP submissions - one that was never accepted.
Send in your links by July 26th and I’ll include your rejects in a future Medium story.
In the meantime, I’ll share with you my latest two rejects:
My body was the journal and this tattoo is the story.
All the times I didn’t win mother of the year award.
