As I wrote up my latest article about the launch of my new community, I found myself scoffing at people who sell courses. I’m not a huge fan but only because there seems to be SO many of them floating around lately.
My timeline overfloweth with ads for courses.
But then I slowed my roll for a minute and thought, those course creators aren’t actually shoving anything down our throats. People buy courses because they want to learn what the seller knows.
It’s our choice whether we buy or not.
Heck, I’ve bought and paid for many courses throughout my lifetime…because I WANTED to. Not because the internet plastered them all up in my feeds.
The only reason your timeline is full of those ads is that somewhere on the great WWW you’ve expressed an interest in learning something. Trust me, AI knows everything. Watch the documentaries.
But online selling is just like the grocery store. The store isn’t pushing fruits and veggies into your face but they have them in case you want them.
All shopping experiences have something just in case you want it and they’re not going to take away their store just because you don’t want it.
I have some serious jitters about doing this community launch though. I’ve never taught people anything except where to go (via my travel blog).
But today is June 4th. I launched a whole human being into the world on June 4th many years ago, surely I can get through launching a community!
My latest article on Medium explains in more detail what I’m up to later this month, so I’ll leave you the link here:
My Expertise Was a Total Fluke and Now I’m Launching a New Life
Whether you want those groceries or not is up to you! And if you don’t, maybe you know someone who does!
Happy June 4th!

Happy Birthday!
