I work in the security field and am considered essential b/c my job involves the defense industry. As soon as the millions start rolling in from the wit and wisdom embedded in my articles, I will permanently retire and mentor the occasional sycophant on how to be successful in writing.

Reporting from Seattle I am retired with a compromised immune system and my husband is able to work from home . My 93 year old mother in law lives alone and thinks all of this is a hoax. We are isolating from the grandkids who are out of school and need care and I feel helpless to support them but these are not snow days. I am continuing to work on my novel.

Thanks for reporting back Sally. I have heard Seattle has been hit pretty hard, and I've seen posts on Instagram about the major shut downs in many industries in your area.

One of the hardest parts is like you said, if we have to sit at home we'd probably like to be with our loved ones but it's not the best course of action right now. My mom is 72 and lives up the street from me, and as of right now we're both fine but I'm exposed to the public each day at work so is it smart to go hang out with my mother right now?

Keep writing! Take advantage of one of the few things you can do. :-)

We make our money as landlords. One unit has been vacant since October. It provides 1/3 of our regular income. An intrested party may be looking at it this afternoon and if they like it we may be having to drive three hours in the rain to sign a lease. I usually make a few extra dollars a month selling books by mail, and that doesn't depend upon physical contact. But sales have been slow this past two weeks. I think the uncertainty has caused people to save their money for essentials. We hope our tenants will be able to pay their rent next month. We are trusting God to provide what we need and get us through this time safely. I'm almost 77 and my husband is 80.

Just stay in and stay clean. I guess that's all we can do, right? I hope your new tenant works out well.

My landlord doesn't have a mortgage on my condo so I'm really hoping that if it comes down to it, he's able to let the rent slide or at least let me just pay the condo fees so it doesn't cost him out of pocket.

I feel for EVERYONE in this situation. The trickle down effect will be massive.

Thank you for replying. It feels nice to have contact with people in other parts of the world, knowing we're all going through it.
