Of the places I've visited? Hmmm. Puerto Rico.

Here. Now. Why? Because all the memories of where I've been on Earth are all up in my head! But I will leave a tip: Plitvice in Croatia is one of the most heaven-like places that could ever be under one's feet.

Definitely Turkey! It has so much of what I like and the cost of living is minimal compared to North America.

I can think of places I’d like to travel, but the question of “one thing for the rest of your life”, I’m actually okay about where we live right now. We live in the a tiny town in the foothills of some of the oldest mountains in the US, and the highest one in Missouri. It’s not spectacular, but gently beautiful. (Arcadia, MO). We have 4 acres, are across the street from the city, but live in the county so we can have whatever animals we want, and not deal with building codes or other rules. Our house is 180 years old, the oldest one in the county. There’s very little to do here. No movie theater. Not many stores. A fairly empty main street. There’s only a few restaurants. It is not exciting to be here. But it’s peaceful and for an introvert, it’s like a decompression tank to be here.

Sicily/Italy. I lived there for a couple of years long ago, I speak the language fluently. I'm old enough now that the rat race in the US doesn't interest me any more. There are things about Italy that would drive me nuts, but the daily pace of life would be pretty nice. Good food, good coffee, good people, beautiful country, lots of history, reasonable cost of living if you don't insist on living in the heart of a major city. And i wouldn't want to.

I live on a private island in Washington state only assessable by boat or private ferry. No amenities on this mile long, dirt road island. Cell and internet service iffy at times. Summers better than winters, 350 residents, 120 full time. Quiet abundant, deer, seals, eagles frequent.

I’m living in it. The Åland Islands, an autonomous province of Finland. An archipelago of 6500 islands, most of which are red granite. I’m surrounded by water, of low salt concentration so it freezes (and looks pretty) in winter. There are forests everywhere. The ‘sea’ looks more like lakes. The islands are magical in any season. There’s barely any traffic. I ride my bike to work. The supermarket is 500m from my house, as is the Main Street. Yet I look out my apartment window to huge trees, a beautiful sky (blue, grey, white depending on the season), and the occasional squirrel, deer family, or jackdaw community. In summer our boat is moored about 350 metres away in the harbour so we can take a spin after work. Our country cottage is 30 minutes drive away and I can have a sauna (hand built by us) by the water, or sit around the outdoor fire pit I built. We can swim in summer, fish all year, grow vegetables in the garden. I chose to live here. I haven’t left the islands in over a year yet I still love it. I’m living the dream! (And I loooove travelling! Yet I’m content here even though all my family live in Australia) When the world opens you’re welcome to visit!
